Bihar SIR: The opposition MPs on Tuesday protested at the Parliament House complex against the Election Commission’s special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar. Several of the INDIA bloc MP’s, including Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were seen wearing white T-shirts with text, “124 NOT OUT”. The opposition leaders claimed that the poll body has attempted to remove the voters of margianalised groups from the list. The banners of the opposition leaders read “Our Vote. Our Right. Our Fight” and “SIR – Silent Invisible Rigging”. The MPs pointed out that there were many mistakes in the first draft presented by the poll body after conducting the revision process.
Why the MPs wore T-shirt with “124 NOT OUT” slogan?
The opposition MPs wore the t-shirt with “124 NOT OUT” written on it to register protest against the first draft of the voter list in which a 124-year-old voter has been allegedly marked as a first time voter. The MPs stated that “Minta Devi” has been marked as the first time voter according to the voter roll. Congress MP Manickam Tagore stated that voter list carries Devi’s name as a first-time voter, adding that the poll body has been working like an ally of BJP.

“We want a discussion on such issues. How EC has become a party to the BJP. The voter list is full of such fraud,” Tagore was quoted as saying. However, Election Commission has not reacted to the allegations of the opposition leaders yet. Earlier on Monday, the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that there have been several mistakes in the revision process, adding that they will come out with time. “There are unlimited cases like that. Abhi picture baki hai (The story is still unfolding),” Gandhi stated.
