American space agency NASA is planning to remove the International Space Station from space orbit by the year 2030. Meanwhile, American company Vast Space has introduced the first private space station Haven-1. This private space station can become an alternative to the International Space Station in the future. If many private missions will be carried out for this, governments will also be able to use it.
What will the first private space station be like?
Private space station Haven-1 will be a single module space station. Its total diameter will be about 4.4 meters. It will have a living space of 45 cubic meters in volume. Its size will be like a single deck bus. In comparison, the volume of the International Space Station is about eight times more.
The private space station will have sleeping space for four astronauts. There will be four separate quarters for them. Apart from this, there will also be lockers for science related work and a common place for eating, drinking and experiments.

There will also be a conference table in it. Apart from this, there will be a 1.2 meter dome shaped window. It will be equipped with extremely fast internet service of Starlink company. Overall, this station has been designed in such a way that it can function comfortably. Its total weight will be around 14 tonnes.

The work of this space station is continuing. After complete integration, the company will fit the equipment necessary for life in it. American space agency NASA is helping Vast Space Company in testing the systems of Haven-1. Its vibration and thermal vacuum tests will be conducted at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in early 2026. Earlier in the first half of 2012, NASA had helped in the verification of Haven-1’s air filter system. It had confirmed that this private space station is capable of removing toxic substances from its environment.

The mission will be for three years
Once this is ready, the way for new safe and commercial space flights will open. There is a plan to launch Haven-1 through SpaceX Falcon-9. In this, four astronauts each will be sent at an interval of 10 days. For this, SpaceX’s Dragon capsule will be used.
The way the work of this station is going on at present, it is expected that the pre-launch work will start from April 2026. At present, the welding work of this space station is almost complete and its construction work is said to be in the final stage. This mission is being made to remain in space orbit for about three years.

That’s why it is being prepared
Private space station Haven-1 is being built like a science lab. Research related to micro gravity can be done in this. Apart from this, research can also be done on development of medicine and semiconductor technology. Let us tell you that Redwire, a Florida company, has already run a project to investigate stem cells and cancer at the International Space Station. Now there is a plan to conduct similar research in Haven-1 also. This private space station will not only be used for private missions, government space agencies will also be able to use it for space science. This will increase the access of small countries to space and private astronauts will also be able to go to the space station.
In fact, American private company Vast Space also wants to build a big space station in the future. It will be named Heaven-2. This Haven-2 itself can become NASA’s alternative to the International Space Station. However, experts believe that operating a commercial space station is more expensive than a government space station. In such a situation, controlling its cost will be the biggest challenge. Anyway, Vast Space has so far invested around Rs 90 billion on Haven-1. This amount is a part of the company’s founder’s personal capital and income from customers.
