There was a confrontation between two communities over the ‘Nawab Abdul Samad’ mausoleum in the Redia area of Abunagar, which revealed incidents such as sabotage, stone pelting and slogans. Now the administration has taken the entire area under security and the situation is being closely monitored.

Claim to be a temple on the tomb, where did the dispute start?

Hindu organizations say that this tomb was actually a temple of Thakur ji. He claims that there are symbols of trident and lotus inside the structure, which are considered to be the identity of the temple and are not found in any mausoleum. A few days ago, these organizations gave a memorandum to the administration and announced to worship here on 11 August. The administration surrounded the precautionary mausoleum with bamboo-ball, but thousands of people broke into barricade on Monday morning.

Crowd, sabotage and saffron flag, what happened then?

The crowd vandalized the tomb and outside. The angry Muslim side pelted stones at this, causing the situation to worse. The police had to struggle hard to disperse the crowd. During this time an alleged video also surfaced on social media, in which people can be seen shouting slogans inside the tomb and hoisting the saffron flag.

160 names in FIR, preparation for arrest

After the incident, the police have registered an FIR against 10 nominated and 150 unidentified people. The accused are said to be a local councilor, a district panchayat member and people associated with Hinduist organizations. At present, no arrests have been confirmed, but police teams are active.

‘500 year old structure’ accused of tampering history

Maqbare’s Mutavalli Mohammad Nafees says the building is about 500 years old and was built by Emperor Akbar’s grandson. It has the graves of Abu Mohammed and Abu Samad. The National Ulama Council has also appealed to the administration not to tamper with the historical form and keep the heritage safe.

Case hot in politics

Political rhetoric on the incident has also started. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak appealed to the opposition parties not to do politics on this issue and maintain peace. At the same time, BSP chief Mayawati has demanded the government to take a tough stand and maintain communal harmony. At present, heavy police and PAC are deployed in the area.
