What is SCO?
SCO is a permanent inter-governmental international organization. It focuses on political, economic and security cooperation throughout Eurasia. It was founded on 15 June 2001 by China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in Shanghai. Earlier the organization of these countries was named “Shanghai Five”. SCO is the largest regional organization in the world based on geography and population. It covers about 42% of the world’s population and an important part of Eurasia.
What is the purpose of SCO?

What are the roles and contribution of SCO members?
1. China- The founding is one of the members. The SCO serves as a motivational power for economic and safety initiatives. SCO is the headquarters of the Secretariat in Beijing. It is a supporter of economic integration (eg Belt and Road initiative) and regional contact.
2. Russia- The founding is a member. It is in a leading role with China. Safety and military cooperation, and focus on dealing with terrorism. Promotes multiplicity as an alternative to western leadership forums.
3. India- In 2017, he joined SCO. Represents South Asia. Focus on non-traditional security, contact, business and relationships between people.
