Why are Banswara and Dungarpur people protesting?

  • Cabinet Minister Joraram Kumawat said that this scheme will not only solve the problem of drinking water, but will also develop about 16,000 hectares of land as irrigated area. Also, this project will give new energy to agriculture and rural economy.
  • However, some protest voices are also raising about this project. Some rural organizations in Banswara and Dungarpur districts believe that the water of Mahi Dam should first get their area, where irrigation requirements are still incomplete. Meanwhile, Jalore MP Lumbaram Chaudhary raised the issue in the Lok Sabha and demanded to ensure water supply from Mahi and Kadana Dam citing the previous agreements.
