Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the adoption and development of 6G technology in India can increase the country’s GDP by up to $1.2 trillion by 2035. Speaking at the International 6G Symposium organized under the India Mobile Congress 2025, Scindia said, “By 2035, these value additions with the help of 6G are expected to add a staggering $1.2 trillion to India’s GDP. The minister said that there has been a significant change in India’s telecom journey in the last decade. He said that we were lagging behind the world in terms of 4G, in terms of 5G we are keeping up with the world. Were, but India will lead the world with 6G.

6G will impact every sector

He further said that the government’s focus is no longer limited to adopting global technologies, but on developing them domestically. Scindia said that India is no longer just a consumer of technology. We are trying to become its creator. Scindia also said that the impact of 6G will go far beyond faster communication. He said that 6G will change every aspect of our lives. It will have a wide impact in areas like agriculture, smart city, health service, disaster management etc. The remarks come at a time when India is accelerating its 6G mission, with industry and academia collaborating under the India 6G Alliance to develop indigenous standards and applications.

Target of 10 percent patent

Earlier, Jyotiraditya Scindia said that India’s ambitions are not limited to 5G but now the focus is on 6G and satellite communications. The target is to acquire 10 percent of 6G patents. Scindia, in his address at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, said that India is emerging as a digital leader on the global stage today. Referring to India’s transformation into a self-reliant nation, the Minister said that the day is not far when people will say that the world is dependent on India. The Minister said that today I appeal to all of you to prepare here, solve here… India innovates and the world changes. He said that satellite communication is expanding today, extending connectivity from land to sea and space.

The market will be worth 15 billion dollars

Scindia said that today the satellite communication market in the telecom and transmission sector is worth about four billion dollars, which will increase three times to about 15 billion dollars by 2033. Our people are at the center of this entire revolution… India is going to become the world’s largest digitally proficient power in the coming days. Scindia said that India’s ambitions extend beyond 5G. The goal of India 6G alliance is to acquire 10 percent patents. Standards are being set for 6G. He said that India today is a product manufacturing nation and not just a service providing nation. Scindia said the Prime Minister’s resolve with the PLI scheme (Production-Linked Incentive Scheme) resulted in new production worth about Rs 91,000 crore today. Exports worth Rs 18,000 crore were made and 30,000 new jobs were created.
