Drone Rain Jaipur: The country’s first drone-based cloud seeding pilot project is starting today in the Ramgarh dam area of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena will inaugurate this historical artificial rain use at 2 pm.
Artificial Rain in Rajasthan: For the first time in the country, the pilot project of artificial rain (cloud seeding) through drone technology in Jaipur, Rajasthan will be held on Tuesday, August 12. This is a historical initiative, which can give a new direction to the agriculture sector of the state. Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena will formally start it in Ramgarh Dam area of Jaipur at 2 pm.
America and Bangalore company are doing Tests
- The project has been approved by all departments of the central and state government.
- So far, airplanes have been used for cloud seeding, but this technique will be tested for the first time through drones.
- The US and Bangalore technology company Jane X AI, along with the Rajasthan Agriculture Department, will fly sixty drones to make this experiment successful.

What is cloud seeding technology
- Cloud seeding, also called artificial rain, is a weather change technique in a way.
- In the cloud seeding process, chemicals such as silver iodide, sodium chloride or dry ice are released in clouds.
- Chemicals collect subtle droplets of water and make them heavy, causing rain.
- For this, it is necessary to have enough moisture in the clouds.
- Leaving chemicals through drones will make it possible to control the direction and quantity of rain.
Water will also be seen in the desert too
Many times in Rajasthan, clouds come during the monsoon, but some areas do not receive rain, causing heavy damage to crops. This technique will especially provide relief to farmers by raining in such areas and the risk of drought will be reduced. Last year, an attempt was made to artificial rain from the plane at the Bhaisunda dam in Chittorgarh, but the effort was not successful due to lack of moisture. This time the drone technology is expected to get better results.

The team of scientists was preparing for it for many days
- For this experiment, a specialist team of scientists in Rajasthan has been engaged in preparations for drone flight and cloud seeding for several days. The project receives approval from DGCA, Meteorological Department, District Administration and Agriculture Department. The test was first postponed on 31 July due to the possibility of heavy rains. Now it will be successfully organized if the weather is favorable.
- On this important occasion, a program will be organized in Ramgarh Dam area, in which local people have also been invited. Its purpose is to make them aware of cloud seeding technology and explain the importance of this initiative.
