What happens if you keep flour in the fridge?
According to fitness coach Priyank’s video, flour in the fridge becomes unfit for consumption after just 24 hours. This means that after 1 day you cannot use the flour kept in the refrigerator. Actually, keeping flour in the refrigerator does not stop the fermentation, it just slows down a little. Even in cold temperatures, yeast works very little and bacteria work slowly. Due to which more carbon dioxide is produced over time. Due to this, the texture and taste of the flour starts changing.
There is a risk of gas and bloating
Keeping flour in the refrigerator increases its fermentation and the gluten of the flour starts loosening. When you make roti with this flour, the roti does not become puffy and soft. Such bread is difficult to chew and digest, which can increase the problem of gas and bloating.
Nutrition also starts decreasing
You do not get the same nutrition from roti made from flour kept in the fridge that you get from eating roti made from fresh flour. Because if flour is kept in the refrigerator, it starts losing its quality. Due to fermentation, its vitamins and minerals gradually start decreasing. Eating bread made from this flour will fill your stomach but will not provide nutrition.
Affects blood sugar
Fitness coaches say that flour kept in the refrigerator reduces starch rapidly. This causes sugar spike. In such a situation, diabetic patients and people trying to control their weight should absolutely avoid eating bread made from flour kept in the refrigerator. In such a situation, try to eat bread made only from fresh flour and do not keep the flour in the fridge for more than 24 hours.
