Bhopal Police Brutality Case: A heart-wrenching incident happened in Bhopal in the early hours of Friday. The death of Udit, a 22-year-old B.Tech student of TIT College here, has shaken the entire city. Udit’s life broke after allegedly being beaten by the police. Two policemen have been suspended and the investigation into the case will be completed after the post-mortem report.
What happened that night?
According to friends, Udit had gone to a party in Indrapuri on Thursday night. After the party was over, at around 1.30 am, he was returning home with his friend when the police saw him. Out of fear, Udit ran into a dark alley, but two policemen chased him and caught him. A purported video of the incident has gone viral on social media, in which one policeman is seen beating him with a stick while another holds him down. A friend told that he heard sounds of clash and when he reached the spot, he saw that Udit’s shirt was torn and there were serious injury marks on his body including his head. His friends took him to the hospital in a car, but the doctors declared him dead.

What do Udit’s parents do?
Udit’s father works in BHEL, while his mother is a teacher. His brother-in-law is working as DSP in Balaghat anti-Naxal unit. According to the family, Udit was a very quiet and intelligent student.
Story of friends and alleged role of police
Friends told that Udit had asked only to turn on the AC and ask for water while sitting in the car. He vomited on the way and was immediately taken to AIIMS as no pulse was found, but doctors declared him dead. His friends allege that the policemen were demanding Rs 10,000 from them.
Will judicial action be taken now?
Bhopal Zone 2 DCP Vivek Singh said constables Santosh Bamania and Saurabh Arya have been suspended. Further action will be taken after the post mortem report comes. Family and friends are giving statements, and the case is being investigated by a city police superintendent level officer.
