According to friends, Udit had gone to a party in Indrapuri on Thursday night. After the party was over, at around 1.30 am, he was returning home with his friend when the police saw him. Out of fear, Udit ran into a dark alley, but two policemen chased him and caught him. A purported video of the incident has gone viral on social media, in which one policeman is seen beating him with a stick while another holds him down. A friend told that he heard sounds of clash and when he reached the spot, he saw that Udit’s shirt was torn and there were serious injury marks on his body including his head. His friends took him to the hospital in a car, but the doctors declared him dead.

Udit’s father works in BHEL, while his mother is a teacher. His brother-in-law is working as DSP in Balaghat anti-Naxal unit. According to the family, Udit was a very quiet and intelligent student.
