Vishal Bhardwaj’s film ‘O’ Romeo’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Trupti Dimri in lead roles, is one of the most awaited films of this year. The trailer of the film was launched at a grand event in Mumbai on Wednesday, and at the event Bhardwaj talked about the controversy surrounding the film.
Film inspired by the story of Hussain Ustara’s family
‘O’ Romeo’ is being said to be the biopic of Hussain Ustara and Sapna Didi. Now Hussain Ustara’s family is said to be angry with the makers because they did not give them any official information about this before making the film, nor did they take permission. Vishal was asked about this at the trailer launch, and he said, “There is a book called Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Hussain Zaidi Sahab has written that story. I have taken the rights of that story and have made this film on it. It is based on that story and the characters are the same, but there is a lot of our fiction in it as well.”
Perhaps Hussain Zaidi Saheb should have or might have taken that permission. So I didn’t think I needed to, because it’s based on a story that’s part of a book.
At the trailer launch, when asked about making the film with another star cast, the filmmaker said, “Actually, the script was also different. When that cast was there, the script was also different. This story has come to this point while being made.”
