Nathuram Godse said in court that day that I had differences with leaders and till now. This is well known from my letter to Savarkar on 28 February 1935. Even today I have the same views. I did not have enmity with Gandhiji. People say that their mind was pure in the Pakistan scheme. I want to tell that I had nothing except the country love. I had to raise my hand because of the terrible incidents that happened when Pakistan became, only Gandhiji was. I knew that after the murder, people’s views would turn about me. The respect I respect in the society will be destroyed. I knew that the newspaper would condemn me badly, but I did not know that the newspapers would become so impure that the truth would be strangled. Newspapers never wrote impartially. If they take more care of the interest of the country and had less attention to the personal wishes of a human being, then the leaders of the country would not accept Pakistan. It was a policy of newspapers that the mistakes of the leaders should not be allowed to appear. The partition of the country became easier. Fearing such corrupt newspapers, I did not let the persistence of my determination distract.
Godse further says that some people say that if Pakistan was not formed, then there would not be freedom. I do not consider this idea right. The leaders have made this excuse to hide their sin. Gandhians say that he found self -rule with his power. If he has taken self -rule with his power, then why did he let the loser British keep the condition of Pakistan? And why not stop power? In my view, the Mahatma and his followers had only one policy and that the first people should show hesitation on the demand of the first people and surrender in the end. Similarly, the outline of Pakistan was accepted.
Pakistan accepted with deceit …
Nathuram said in the court that Pakistan was tricked on 15 August 1947. Hindus of Punjab, Bengal, Seema Province and Sindh were not considered. The country was cut into a religious powerful Muslim state. Muslims got the fruits of their national works as Pakistan. Gandhian leaders called those people as a traitor communal who opposed Pakistan and accepted Pakistan themselves and accepted everything about Jinnah. This accident disturbed the peace of my mind. After forming Pakistan, the Congress government would protect the Hindus of Pakistan, my anger would have calmed down. I could not see that the public should be cheated. Leaving millions of Hindus on the mercy of Muslims, Gandhians kept saying that Hindus should not come from Pakistan and stay there. Thus Hindus got caught in the clutches of Muslims and suffered from suffering calamities.
Godse further said in his court in his defense that when I miss these incidents, I tremble. Everyday thousands of Hindus used to kill. 15,000 Sikhs were shot by bullets. The procession was taken out by naked Hindu women. They were sold like animals. Millions of Hindus had to run away after saving religion. The batch of 40 miles long Hindu destitute was coming towards India. How did the Hindustan rule prevent this terrible act.
… so there would not be so much torture
Gandhi’s killer further said that the Indian government would request Pakistan to stop atrocities or threatened that if the atrocities in Pakistan did not stop, then there would be bad conditions of Muslims in India, then there would not be so much atrocities. The Government of India used to run at the gestures of Gandhiji and his policy was different. If the newspapers used to write something to protect the Hindus of Pakistan, then it was taken meaning that they are trying to spread differences in Hindu Muslims. Such tasks were considered to be a crime and by implementing the sections of the Press Emergency Act, one after the other bail started to be sought. I also received many notices and demanded up to Rs 1000 safe fund.
Nathuram Godse further said that according to the statement of Shri Morarji Desai, 900 such incidents occurred. Not only this, when the press delegation went to meet Morarji, he did not listen to him. Thus I do not hope that the Gandhian Congress government can be pressurized peacefully. When such incidents were happening, Gandhiji did not say a single word against Pakistan or Muslims. Gandhi is the root cause of the atrocities committed by Muslims to eradicate Hindu caste and culture. If the politics of India had been handled well, then such a Hindu destruction would never have happened as now and whose example is not found anywhere in history.
Problems on Gandhi’s way of fast
Godse said in a speech in his court that the important thing settled is that Gandhi ji never paid attention to the public views in the problems related to Muslims. Gandhiji had so much bloodshed under the guise of non -violence that the public was not ready to welcome any idea in favor of Pakistan. It was clear that there cannot be peace in India as long as there is a religious Muslim state in Pakistan. Nevertheless, Gandhiji was campaigning in this way and such thoughts were spreading in favor of Pakistan, as even a staunch League leader could not succeed. In these days, the conditions that he announced by announcing the fast unto -death was also against Hindus and in favor of Muslims. The conditions of Gandhiji’s fast were the first to take out Hindu refugees living in mosques in Delhi and mosques should be handed over to Muslims. Gandhiji accepted his condition by threatening the government and other leaders. I was in Delhi on the day the incident happened. I saw how Gandhiji’s insistence was fulfilled.
Godse further said that they were cold days. Gandhiji opened the fast. It was raining that day. People living in good places in such extraordinary winter and rain were also shivering. At that time, the Kutumb mosques of the Kutumb of destitute refugees were evacuated in a winter. No arrangements were made to protect them. Some refugees who went to Birla House with family and women and raised slogans. Gandhiji give us a place. The voice of those destitute could not reach Gandhi living in that grand building. I saw this scene with my eyes, seeing which the heart of the harsh person would also melt. Many thoughts started coming in my brain. I wondered whether the refugees had happily camped in these mosques? No, Gandhi also knew about the situations that he had to leave his home and take shelter of these mosques.
Nathuram further stated that not a single temple or gurudwara was safe in Pakistan. The refugees had seen with their own eyes how Muslims impure only Hindu temples and gurdwaras. Hindu refugees who came to take Delhi refuge, they did not find any place here. What is surprising in this? If they did not remain under the trees and in the streets, remembering the accidents in Punjab and took refuge in the waste mosques in Delhi. In my view, mosques in this way were working for the good of humanity.
Gandhiji decided that mosques should be evacuated. Why didn’t the second manager of his stay there? Why did they not demand to hand over the temples of Pakistan to Hindus? Which shows that Gandhi is virtually priests of non -violence. Hindu is interested in Muslim unity and has fair self -power. Gandhi cleverly tricked and did not put a single condition for Pakistan to open his fast. If they had been there, the world would see that Gandhiji would go on a fast and go to heaven and would not have been sad to take a single Muslim of Pakistan. He had seen from his experience that his fast had no effect on Jina and the league does not care about his self -power.
In the end, it would not be unfair to say that Gandhi’s flowers i.e. bone were shed in many rivers of India and abroad. But this bone could not be shed in the Indus River of Pakistan. In this regard, the efforts of India’s Ambassador Shri Prakash ji in Pakistan were fruitless. Now talk about 55 crore rupees. Look at the request of the Deputy Prime Minister. Gandhi himself has said that it becomes difficult to change his decision from a government, but the Indian government changed its decision not to give 55 crores to Pakistan due to Gandhiji’s fast. See Gandhiji’s prayer discourse of 21 January 1948. The government had decided not to give 55 crores as representatives of the people, but Gandhi’s fast changed this decision. Then I came to know that public opinion has no importance in front of Gandhiji’s Pakistan Parasat. On page 143 of the first section of his securities, Justice Kapoor has given an example of the process published in the circle at that time.
Godse further said that Muslims opposed the freedom movement, that is why Pakistan was formed. Those who took favor of Pakistan have been called the fifth pillar. They have been condemned. But in my view, Gandhiji took the most side of Pakistan and no power could stop him. In this situation, there was only one way to protect Hindus from the atrocities of Muslims to end Gandhi. Gandhiji is called as the Father of the Nation. Those who are of extreme respect, but they failed to perform the duty of the father. He crubricated two to two pieces of the nation. If they opposed Pakistan with the true soul, the league would never have been able to keep this demand with such a strongness and the British would not have made it even by making their efforts. The people of the country were extremely opposed to making Pakistan. But Gandhiji cheated the public and proved the father of Pakistan’s Pakistan. Therefore, as a son of Mother India, I thought my duty to end such a person who is being said, the Father of the Nation, but who has won the most hand in dividing the motherland.
Honor about this matter for Gandhi
Nathuram Godse further said that I have also read the character of other Indian patriots and leaders. Who has sacrificed more than Gandhiji. Whatever be the service of Gandhiji, I respect him for the service of the country. Before firing on him, I was bowing down in his honor. But the right to divide the revered motherland by cheating the public does not have the right to the greatest Mahatma. Gandhiji tricked the country to pieces because there was no such court or law on the basis of which such criminals can be punished. That is why I shot Gandhi. This was the only way to punish them. If I did not do this, it would have been good for me but the situation had become very bad and there was so much grace in my heart that I thought that Gandhiji should not be allowed to die from natural death. The world may know that this person had to suffer the punishment of a sect of the country, by deceiting the nation unjustly. I wanted to end this problem in this way because this could save the lives of millions of innocent Hindus.
Godse further said that the way you want to see this feeling of mine and as a result of this feeling, the punishment should be considered appropriate by looking at me. I do not want to say anything in this subject. I do not want any kind of mercy. I do not even want me to ask for mercy on my behalf. In this indictment, many humans have been taken with me in this crime. He is accused of conspiring. I have already said about this matter that I had no partner in this work. I myself and only I am responsible for it. If other people were not raised for this defect, I would not have even defended for myself.
I have not given this long statement because people have appreciated my work but because people know my thoughts well and there is no misconception in anyone’s mind. God, our country is unbroken again and the people should renounce the ideas that inspire to bow down to the oppression. This is my last prayer to God. My statement is now over.
