Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday announced the second list of candidates for West Bengal polls. The list includes 111 candidates. With 144 candidates announced in the first list, the party has announced the list of 255 candidates in total till now.
In its second list, the party has fielded former Union Minister Nisith Pramanik from Mathabhanga, while actress-turned politician Roopa Ganguly has been fielded from Sonarpur South. Apart from them, Arjun Singh has been fielded from Noapara.
Among other candidates, tickets have been allotted to Noman Rai from Darjeeling, Ananta Deb Adhikari from Jalpaiguri, Bharat Chettri from Kalimpong, and Mitali Mal from Khargram. Indranil Khan, the State President of the BJP’s Yuva Morcha, will contest from Behala West Assembly constituency.
Apart from them, the party has fielded Rekha Patra from Hingalganj. She had gained earlier prominence during the Sandeshkhali episode. Patra has emerged as one of the key faces representing the region. Earlier, she was nominated as the BJP candidate from Basirhat in the Lok Sabha elections, which she lost.
Bengali actress Sarbori Mukherjee will try her luck from Jadavpur constituency, while another actress Papia Dey Adhikari has been fielded from Tollygunge constituency in Kolkata. Ritesh Tiwari, a BJP leader with a strong base in the Purvanchal region of Bengal, has been nominated as the candidate from Kashipur-Belgachia.
