Weirdest places on earth that are truly unique

New Delhi: Some locations across the globe are mysterious, and others are exceptionally unique due to factors like landscape, climate, etc. They are truly marvels to the human eye and understanding. Here’s a list of some of those places: 

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

 

The Salar de Uyuni, which is the world’s largest salt flat, is located near the crest of the Andes in Bolivia. The salt flat uniquely changes into a massive mirror and reflects the sky after a rainfall. The flat surface is often taken advantage of and is used to calibrate satellites. You would feel like you are walking or floating in the sky. 

Danakil Depression, Ethiopia 

 

The Danakil Depression is one of the hottest inhabited places in the world, nicknamed “Gateway to Hell”. The temperatures in this part of the world reach up to 50 degrees Celsius. The place features salt flats, neon-coloured hydrothermal fields caused by volcanic activity, and acidic hot springs. 

Door to Hell, Turkmenistan

 

The Door to Hell, located in Turkmenistan, is a natural gas crater that has been burning since 1971. The burning of the site was caused accidentally by scientists who thought that the crater would only burn for a couple of days. The glow of the site gave it the name the “Door to Hell”. 

Ice Caves of Mutnovsky Volcano, Russia 

Ice Caves of the Mutnovsky volcano are formed from hot steam vents that melt the glaciers from under the volcano. The ceilings of the caves are thin and glow in the light. The volcano plays a major role in shaping the caves. 

Socotra island

 

Socotra Island, located in the Arabian Sea, has been isolated for millions of years. The island features a giant mushroom with a red sap known as the Dragon Blood Tree, along with several other exotic plants and animals.
