Weather Update: The intense rainfall across the country has led to deaths of many and has also caused significant damage to the infrastructure in the past few days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that at least 17 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, will continue to receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday. The continuous rainfall has caused waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences.
Delhi-NCR Weather Update
The weather department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain for Delhi and other nearby cities, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad, on Friday. Along with heavy rain, these regions are expected to witness thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. However, the IMD assured that the rain activities are likely to decline after July 11, providing relief to the residents.
Heavy Rain Alert For UP
The meteorological department has issued an alert of heavy rain and thunderstorms in over 60 districts, including Lucknow, for the next two days. As per senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, an active weather system originating in the Bay of Bengal has reached Madhya Pradesh, directly impacting weather in Uttar Pradesh. The continuous rain has disrupted lifestyles in the western districts, including Meerut, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Bulandshahar, and Muzaffarnagar.
Rain Wreaks Havoc In Surat
Earlier, at least nine people lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Surat, while around 3,900 people were evacuated from low-lying areas amid flood-like conditions. The IMD has stated that the city is likely to receive more rain in the coming days, further worsening the condition. The residents have been advised to avoid visiting the lower regions for the next few days.
The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings during the rainfall to avoid inconveniences.
