Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several states are likely to witness a sharp drop in temperature in the upcoming days.
The weather department stated that the presence of dense fog will severely affect the visibility, especially in the early hours, leading to inconveniences for the commuters. The minimum temperature in these states is likely to be recorded below 10 degrees Celsius. While the hilly regions are likely to witness snowfall, the southern states are expected to receive light to moderate rain. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several northern states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Bengal, are likely to witness a cold wave and a sharp temperature drop in the upcoming days. The minimum temperature in these states is likely to be calculated around 10 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, several northeastern states are also set to experience a cold wave and dense fog.
The air quality in Delhi-NCR has deteriorated significantly in the past few days, leading to suffocation and breath-related issues. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has ordered all state governments to immediately suspend all outdoor sports activities in schools and other educational institutions. The health ministry has advised the residents to limit their outings and wear a mask during the outdoor activities.
The hilly regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand witnessed snowfall on Sunday night, leading to a sudden drop in temperature. The weather department stated that these regions are expected to receive more snowfall and cold waves in the upcoming days. The IMD has advised the tourists to plan their travel accordingly to avoid the rush.
