Things are getting worse in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand. Millions of people are affected by the floods and thousands of people have to leave their homes. This rain, which came as a relief, is now becoming a disaster for the people.

Ganga above the danger mark in Bihar

The water level of Ganga, Kosi, Budhi Gandak and Bagmati rivers is continuously increasing in districts like Patna, Khagaria, Munger, Saharsa and Katihar in Bihar. The low -lying areas of Patna have been filled with water up to the waist and studies in many schools are disrupted. All the rivers in Khagaria are flowing above the danger mark.

Prayagraj is the most affected in UP

The water level of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers in Prayagraj is slowly decreasing, but the water is still above the danger mark. So far, more than 80 thousand people have become homeless and more than 5 lakh people are affected. 62 settlements and 288 villages of the district are in flood. In Varanasi, the Ganges is flowing 97 centimeters above the danger mark. All 86 ghats of the city have been submerged and water has reached the roads.

Sutlej river in Punjab in spate

The Sutlej river has flooded due to heavy rains in Gurdaspur and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar districts of Punjab. About 150 acres of paddy crop has been submerged in Ferozepur due to release of 22 thousand cusecs of water from Harike head.

Cloudburst in Uttarkashi havoc

In Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, on Tuesday, clouds burst three places in two and a half hours, causing heavy destruction. The flood of Kheerganga River in Dharali town destroyed the entire market. More than 22 shops and houses were washed away. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert on heavy rains in six districts including Uttarkashi. NDRF, SDRF and Water Police teams are active for rescue operations. Relief is being provided with the help of boats and motorboats. The administration has appealed to the people to be vigilant and go to high places.
