New Delhi: US President Donald Trump on Saturday said that American negotiators won’t be traveling to Pakistan for talks with Iran adding the Iranians can call them anytime they want.
Talking to Fox News, Trump added that it was not worth for the US delegation to make the 18-hour flight to Pakistan when Washington was holding “all the cards” in the Iran war. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were scheduled to travel to Islamabad for the second round of talks with Iran after the first round did not yield any result.
“I’ve told my people a little while ago they were getting ready to leave, and I said, ‘Nope, you’re not making an 18 hour flight to go there. We have all the cards. They can call us anytime they want, but you’re not going to be making any more 18 hour flights to sit around talking about nothing’,” Trump told Fox News.
According to reports, the Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has already left Islamabad for Oman after holding talks with Pakistan prime minister Shahbaz Sharif.
