‘We are ready to take off’: Iceland Cricket trolls Pakistan over T20 World Cup participation drama

New Delhi: Iceland Cricket has taken a hilarious dig at the Pakistan amid the recent drama over the side’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. After Bangladesh were replaced by Scotland in the marquee event starting February 7, Pakistan started off their drama of not participating in the showpiece spectacle, in solidarity with the Bangladesh cricket team.

In a hilarious message shared by Iceland Cricket on social media, they said that they are ready to take off for the marquee event after Pakistan submits its withdrawal from the event on February 2. Posting a screenshot of the flight tickets to Colombo, Iceland Cricket said that they are ready to take off as soon as Pakistan pulls out but the flight schedule is a logistical nightmare to get them to Colombo by February 7.

How its started?

After the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced its final verdict of replacing Bangladesh with Scotland from the 20-over World Cup, Pakistan cricket began its theatrics. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi said that Bangladesh have been subjected to an unfair treatment by the global cricketing body and they should not have replaced the side from the multi-nation competition.

Naqvi further said like they have been provided an alternative of playing their T20 World Cup games in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh should have been given the same treatment. It was further revealed by Pakistan cricket that for their participation in the global event, they will be needing a go-ahead from their government and only then they will take part in the World Cup.

The decision regarding Pakistan’s participation is set to be rolled out by the end of this week or early next week.
