WCL 2025: The World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 concluded in emphatic fashion as South Africa Champions thrashed Pakistan Champions by nine wickets in the final at Edgbaston on Saturday.
With this win, the Proteas lifted their maiden WCL trophy.
The undisputed star of the final – and indeed the tournament – was AB de Villiers, who delivered a scintillating performance when it mattered the most. Chasing a daunting 196-run target, de Villiers smashed an unbeaten 120 off 60 deliveries, taking his tournament tally to a staggering 431 runs – the highest by any batter this edition.
Pakistan’s Sharjeel Khan, who hit a blistering 76 off 44 balls in the final, was named
Fan Favourite Legend for his explosive batting throughout the tournament.
On the bowling front, Peter Siddle (Australia Champions) and Wayne Parnell (South Africa Champions) finished as joint highest wicket-takers with 11 scalps each. Saeed Ajmal (Pakistan Champions) was the only bowler to take a five-wicket haul, while Rumman Raees stood out for his discipline with the best economy rate of 5.30.
