Hyderabad: Many areas in the city will witness a 20-hour water supply disruption on Monday (September 1). The disruption is taking place as Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is conducting maintenance and repair works.
The HMWSSB said that it is conducting urgent repair works on Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project (KDWSP) pipelines. It added that the water supply will remain hit from 11 am on September 1 till 7 am on September 2.
In a tweet the water supply authority said, “To stop the massive water leakage on the 1400 mm dia pipeline of Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project (KDWSP) Phase-3, pumping main supplying water to Hyderabad metropolis, leakage works will be carried out in the 300 mm dia squar valve extension pipe at Attapur Musi Bridge, Rajendranagar. Also, repair works such as replacing the non-working valves at Mailardevpally Phase-III Pump House will be undertaken.”
It added, “Date of these works: 01.09.2025, Monday 11 am to 02.09.2025 Tuesday 7 am These works will continue for a total of 20 hours. Therefore, water supply will be disrupted in the area of reservoirs under Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase – 3 Ring Main – 1 till these 20 hours. Consumers in the areas where water supply will be disrupted are requested to use water sparingly.”
Repair works scheduled
- Plugging a major leakage on a 1400 mm pumping main at PV.
- Narasimha Rao Expressway repair a 300 mm scour valve at Attapur Musi bridge, and replace faulty valves at Mailardevpally pump house.
Hyderabad water cut: Areas affected
The affected areas include:
- Areas within the area of Sheikhpet Reservoir
- Areas within the area of Jubilee Hills, Filmnagar, Prashasannagar, Thattikhana Reservoir
- Areas within the area of Gachibowli, Madhapur, Ayyappa Society, Kavuri Hills Reservoir.
The water supply authority advised residents of these societies to store sufficient water beforehand and also use it judiciously to avoid any inconvenience during the supply disruption.
