In a video shared on social media, the woman said that her four-year-old son was very scared after seeing the firing. An Indian-origin woman named Chandana Roy shared a video on her Instagram, in which she added a clip of herself and her child. In this, both of them look scared and the boy is crying. At the end of the clip the child tells his father about the incident. The child’s father gently reassures him that the people involved were bad and have been taken into custody. Meanwhile, the child innocently says, ‘Bad people have come to steal the candy’ and the video ends here.

While sharing the video, Chandana Roy wrote, ‘We have reached home safely. Yesterday we sent a last message after hearing multiple gunshots from 10 feet away, on the second floor of the Macy’s at Westfield Valley Fair. People were screaming, running, breaking windows and hiding. The fear and chaos inside the mall was clearly visible in this note.

She added that her four-year-old son later concluded this tragic incident by saying, ‘The bad guys shot the gun boom boom boom and stole all the candy in the store.’ Roy also told that his son had left his toy car there while running away and now wanted to go to the shop to get it back.

People prayed for safety

After the video went viral, many people expressed their views emotionally. Many people wrote that thank God that both are safe. Some wrote that they were very sad that a four-year-old child had to go through such an experience. Some prayed for the child’s speedy recovery from the shock. San Jose Police Media Relations Team said that two people were injured in the shooting. The notice said that the matter is under investigation and both the injured were immediately taken to the hospital.
