However, the Baba Aparajith’s Super Gillies reigned victorious, the match caught several eyeballs as one of the on-field umpires was left injured.

In one of the on-field moments, umpire K. Srinivasan received a blow on his elbow as the batter’s powerful sweep shot hit him. The incident unfolded in the 15th over of IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans’ innings when left-handed batter Uthirasamy Sasidev tried to sweep Swapnil Singh’s delivery over square leg. K. Srinivasan, who was stationed at the square leg, was hit on the elbow and went straight down on the ground, leaving him in pain.

However, the on-field umpire was quick to get up back and continued to officiate the match despite the panic situation. Luckily, the umpire escaped serious injuries, the commentators perceived humour in the situation as they were heard saying, ‘Is there any concussion sub for the umpires?’

Speaking of the match, despite being put to bat first, the IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans posted 173 at the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs, courtesy a 43-ball 79 from wicketkeeper-batter Tushar Raheja and a 28-ball 38 from Pradosh Paul. But, Chepauk Super Gillies’ skipper, Baba Aparajith played a captain’s knock of unbeaten 77, along with crucial innings from RS Mokit Hariharan (46) and Vijay Shankar (41*) to help his team register eight-wicket win.
