The 2025 County Championship match between Worcestershire and Essex was interrupted as swarm of bees entered the stadium. During Worcestershire’s innings, Tom Taylor hit a boundary after which a swarm of bees entered the ground.
To save themselves from a bee attack, all the players lied flat on their chest on the ground along with the on-field umpires as the match was stopped for some time.
Talking about the match, Worcestershire gave Essex a target of 336 runs in match number 49 of Country Championship division one at Visit Worcestershire New Road in the United Kingdom. In the second innings, Worcestershire were bowled out for 134 runs in the first. Now, Essex need to chase a target of 336 runs in the remaining two and a half-days.

Simon Harmer takes four-wicket haul Essex’s second innings
Batting first, Worcestershire posted a total of 358 runs in their first innings. Matthew Waite top scored with 73(91) runs while Rob Jones contributed with 54(117) runs. For Essex, Shane Snater took four wickets while Noah Thain and Matt Critchley took two wickets each. In reply, Essex were bowled out for 157 runs as Worcestershire took a lead of 201 runs in the first innings. Robin Das was top scorer with 44(91) runs. For Worcestershire, Matthew Waite and Tom Taylor took three wickets each.
