Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach Justin Langer has said that he is hopeful to see pacer Mayank Yadav joining the squad soon as the speedster is making crucial recovery from a lumbar stress injury.
After LSG’s intriguing 12-run win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in the 16th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match, Langer attended the post-match press conference and discussed Mayank’s recovery. The young pacer sustained the injury during his debut T20 International (T20I) series against Bangladesh last year, and following that, he couldn’t play any matches.
Currently, he is undergoing rehabilitation under the National Cricket Academy (NCA), and LSG fans are eagerly hoping for his return to action in the ongoing T20 extravaganza. Langer, who looked in jovial mood following his team’s triumph, divulged that Mayank has recovered 95 percent and he is working diligently to clear the fitness test. “What I do know is he’s working very hard at the NCA, and I saw some video of him bowling yesterday [Thursday] and he was bowling at about 90 to 95%,” said Langer at the press conference.
Langer also appreciated NCA’s efforts in recoveries of Avesh Khan and Akash Deep. Talking further about Mayank Yadav, he said, “He’s up, he’s keen to get going. He bowled really well in Bangalore yesterday at the NCA. I think you have another couple of bowls and hopefully… NCA, to their credit, have obviously done a very good job because they’ve got Avesh Khan back for us, they’ve got our Akash Deep back for us. So we really appreciate the work they’re doing to get the boys back playing and now hopefully Mayank as well,” added the former Australia opener.

performed magnificently in their home contest against MI. The hosts contained the visitors on 191 and defended the score of 203 successfully, riding on the sensational bowling spell of Digvesh Singh. Bowling a four-over spell, the leg-break bowler gave away only 21 runs and scalped the crucial wicket of Naman Dhir, who looked dangerous during the chase.
Digvesh’s brilliant bowling effort also got him the player of the match (POTM) award. Earlier, openers (60 off 31) and Aiden Markram (53 off 38) batted with courage and chipped in with their half-centuries to help the Super Giants put a massive score on the board in the first innings of the game.
