New Delhi: India coach Gautam Gambhir’s celebration video is making waves on social media as he was seen celebrating like never before after Mohammed Siraj put the final nail in the coffin. England entered the fifth and final day of the fifth Test needing just 35 runs with four wickets in hand to seal a 3-1 series win.
But Siraj had other plans. He struck twice in his first two overs, before Prasidh Krishna picked up the third wicket of the day. Chris Woakes, playing with a dislocated right arm, walked in to support the last man standing, Gus Atkinson, who had brought the target down to single digits. But Siraj returned with a perfect yorker to dismiss him, sealing a six-run win for India and levelling the series in the inaugural Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy recently renamed from the Pataudi Trophy.
In a video shared by the BCCI on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian dressing room is seen standing in anticipation as Siraj bowls the final delivery. As soon as the last wicket fell, Gambhir was mobbed by his support staff and was seen screaming with pure emotion. The former India opener even jumped into bowling coach Morne Morkel’s lap and clutched him like he never wanted to let go.
Great to see this raw and unfiltered side of Gautam Gambhir who is so emotional about Team India but 2₹ fan clubs will keep abusing him as he kicked out their idol.pic.twitter.com/6fYddOgxft

That moment was followed by an emotional hug with captain Shubman Gill as the Men in Blue avoided a series defeat. It also marked the first time India drew a Test series under Gambhir’s guidance.
What draw means to Gautam Gambhir
With India trailing 2-1 heading into the final Test, pressure was mounting on Gambhir. Since taking over from Rahul Dravid in 2024, India had managed just five wins, two draws, and eight losses in 15 Tests. After a home defeat to New Zealand and an away loss to Australia, drawing the series against England came as a much-needed relief.
This victory also marked India’s narrowest win in terms of runs in Test history. Their previous slimmest win was by 13 runs against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in 2004.
