Dewald Brevis produced a moment of pure audacity as London Spirit defeated MI London by seven wickets to register their first victory of The Hundred Men’s Competition 2026 at the Kennington Oval on Wednesday.
Chasing 165, London Spirit made light work of the target, reaching 165/3 in just 89 balls with 11 deliveries to spare. Lhuan-dre Pretorius set the platform with a blistering 64 off 28 balls, while Brevis provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 37 off 18 deliveries.
The highlight of the chase came from Brevis, who smashed an outrageous no-look six that travelled a staggering 95 metres. Facing Olly Stone, the South African batter launched the delivery deep into the leg side and completed the shot without even looking at where the ball was headed. Brevis held his pose with his head down as the ball sailed over the boundary, creating one of the standout moments of the London derby.
Brevis’ explosive cameo came at a strike rate of more than 200 and ensured London Spirit completed a comfortable chase. His six added to an innings that showcased both power and confidence as the Spirit finally opened their account for the season.
Earlier, MI London posted 164/5 from their 100 balls after being asked to bat first. Will Jacks led the way with a composed 65 off 44 balls, striking eight fours and two sixes. James Vince chipped in before Sherfane Rutherford provided late impetus to help MI London reach a competitive total.

However, London Spirit’s response was emphatic. Pretorius took the attack to the MI London bowlers from the outset, smashing boundaries at regular intervals before Brevis took over during the closing stages.
The victory marked London Spirit’s first win of the 2026 campaign and gave them a much-needed boost in the London derby. Pretorius was named Player of the Match for his explosive contribution, while Brevis’ spectacular no-look six emerged as the defining highlight of the contest.
