Top-seeded player and World No. 2, Alexander Zverev was seen getting into a controversy during his third round match in the ongoing 2025 on Sunday, April 27. The German international was taken to the limit by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a gripping third round match, eventually advancing with a 2-6. 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/0) win.
During the match, the World No. 2 received a warning from the chair umpire for taking a photo of a ball mark after complaining about the electronic line-calling. The incident broke out after the Spaniard took the opening set 6-2 and with the second set going in favour of the German 5-4, the umpire quickly called it in, adding to the Spanish international’s points.
Soon afterwards, Zverev walked upto the chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani stating that there was a ‘malfunction’ with the system, thinking that it had gone wide. Just in the meantime, Zverev took a phone from his bag and took a picture of the mark for which he also received a warning for unsportsman-like conduct.
