‘War has created unexpected challenges, including economic issues’: PM Modi on West Asia crisis

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the ongoing situation in West Asia is concerning and that he had spoken to the country heads twice. PM Modi made the remarks in the Lok Sabha.

“Today I am here to talk about the ongoing conflict in West Asia. West Asia is going through a difficult time. Hardeep Puri and S Jaishankar have informed the Houses on this matter. The situation and the escalation have now passed three weeks, creating adverse effects on the global economy and livelihoods,” he said.

PM Modi noted that the ongoing war between Israel-US and Iran has created unexpected challenges, including economic, national security, and humanitarian issues.

He further underscored that the countries affected by the war have business relations with India and that a significant portion of our crude oil and gas requirements is fulfilled by this region. “This region is also important because around 1 crore Indians live and work there,” he added..
