Pakistan-Afghanistan peace talks fail in Türkiye. Both countries blamed each other. According to defense experts, the conflict may increase now as violence and mutual accusations continue on the border.
Pakistan-Afghanistan Turkey Peace Talk: The ongoing talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan on implementing long-term ceasefire have failed. Government media of both countries blamed each other for this in a statement on Tuesday afternoon. According to Pakistani officials, this has happened due to Kabul not accepting logical and legitimate demands. At the same time, according to Afghan media, every possible effort was made from our side to hold constructive talks, but due to the stubbornness and lack of seriousness of the Pakistani camp, this could not happen. Defense experts believe that after the failure of these talks being held in Istanbul, Turkey, a war can break out between Taliban and Pakistan any time.
Why can war break out between Pakistan and Taliban?
Due to the failure of Pak-Afghan talks, everyone’s attention is also being paid to the comment of Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, in which he had said that if the talks fail, Islamabad will be left with no option but open conflict. That is, from this aggressive statement of the Pakistani minister, it seems that both the countries may once again come face to face. However, Pakistani and Afghan representatives are still in Türkiye, but there is no update on the fourth round of talks.
There was no result even in Doha talks
Earlier, on October 18-19, a meeting of representatives of both the countries was held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, after which both the countries agreed to implement a 48-hour ceasefire. However, even after this ceasefire, there were reports of attacks from each other on the border. That means these talks also turned out to be inconclusive.
What is the reason for Pakistan-Taliban feud?
After the US troops left Afghanistan in August 2021, the Taliban took over power there. Pakistan has accused Afghanistan of carrying out terrorist attacks in Pakistan from time to time through Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. At the same time, Taliban has vehemently denied these allegations of Pakistan.
Why did violence suddenly erupt between Pakistan and Taliban?
Taliban Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Muttaki had recently arrived on a 7-day visit to India, which left Pakistan stunned. He carried out the bomb blasts targeting Kabul-based Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader Noor Wali Mehsud. Angered by this, the Taliban attacked Pakistani posts and claimed to have killed 54 of their soldiers.
