In Bihar, under the Chief Minister Mahila Employment Scheme, 75 lakh women are being given the first installment of ₹ 10,000 for self -employment. Its purpose is to make women economically strong and self -sufficient. This benefit is for women associated with self -help groups.

Patna: Today is going to be very special for 75 lakh women of Bihar. Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Employment Scheme, the state government is going to transfer the first installment of 10-10 thousand rupees in the bank accounts of eligible women directly through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). Overall, an amount of seven and a half thousand crores will be distributed. This historic program will start on 26 September, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join online and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will launch it from Patna.

Specialty of Chief Minister Mahila Employment Scheme

The Nitish government has launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Employment Scheme to make women financially strong and self -reliant. Under this, financial assistance of Rs 10,000 will be given to a woman from every family. This amount will help women start self-employment, do small businesses or increase existing business. With this scheme, women will be able to invest in farming, animal husbandry, sewing-weaving, handicrafts and small enterprises. Later, additional assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh will also be provided to eligible women.

Program will be held in all district headquarters

The government has decided to give this program a form of celebration. District level programs will be held at all 38 district headquarters, which will be chaired by DM. Apart from this, BDO program will be conducted in 534 block headquarters. This scheme will be celebrated through live broadcast at all 1680 package level associations and 70 thousand gram organization levels of livelihood. Thousands of livelihoods and self -help groups will be included at every level.

How many women applied?

According to government data, so far 1 crore 11 lakh 66 thousand women have applied for this scheme. Only 1 crore 7 lakh women have applied from rural areas. At the same time, 4 lakh 66 thousand Jeevika Didis have applied from urban areas. Apart from this, more than 4 lakh new women have registered to join the self -help groups.

Who can take advantage?

The same women will be able to take advantage of this scheme between 18 and 60 years old. The family includes husband and wife and unmarried children and the applicant or her husband should not be in income tax payer or government job (regular/contract). The most important provision of the scheme is that only women associated with self -help groups (SHG) will be eligible for this scheme.

The government claims that this scheme will not only make women self -reliant but will also give financial strength to their families.
