Navratri

Navratri is dedicated to Mother Durga. Navratri is celebrated twice a year. For the first time, the fast of nine days of Navratri is observed in the month of Chaitra and for the second time on Shardiya Navratri in the month of Ashwin. In this, nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Next year Chaitra Navratri will start from 20th March and Shardiya Navratri will start from 11th October.

Nirjala, Devuthani and Devshayani Ekadashi

There are a total of 24 Ekadashi fasts throughout the year, but among these, Nirjala, Devuthani and Devshayani Ekadashi are considered very important. Special results are obtained by worshiping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi on this day. In 2026, Nirjala Ekadashi will be on 25th June, Devshayani Ekadashi on 25th July and Devuthani Ekadashi on 20th November.

Falgun and Sawan Shivratri

In Hindu religion, Shivratri falling in the months of Phalgun and Sawan is considered especially important. On this day, married women keep fast for the long life of their husbands and unmarried girls to get the desired groom. Next year, Phalgun Shivratri (it is called Mahashivratri) will be on 15 February and Sawan Shivratri will be on 11 August.

Vat Savitri Vrat

Married women observe Vat Savitri fast every year on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month. This fast is observed for the long life of the husband and a happy married life. Banyan tree is worshiped on this day. The story of Savitri-Satyavan is heard. In the year 2026, Vat Savitri Vrat will be observed on 16 May.

Hariyali, Kajri and Hartalika Teej

Teej fasts also hold great importance in Hindu religion. Observing the fast of Teej brings immense good fortune. There are three fasts of Teej. Hariyali Teej, Kajri Teej and Hartalika Teej. In 2026, the fast of Hariyali Teej will be on 27th July, Kajri Teej on 31st August and Hartalika Teej on 14th September.

Karva Chauth

Women observe the fast of Karva Chauth every year, praying for the long life of their husbands and a happy married life. On this day women observe Nirjala fast. In 2026, the fast of Karva Chauth will be observed on Thursday, 29 October.
