who came into the limelight during the concluded FIFA World Cup 2026, will be allowed to display his nickname on his Chilean football jersey.

The nod was given on Friday by the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, which governs Chile’s Primera Division. The decision required a change in the league’s regulations. Earlier, players could only have their surnames on their jerseys.

Top executives across Chilean clubs backed the request on behalf of the player. According to the details that were leaked to local media, being allowed to wear his nickname on the jersey was one of Vozinha’s conditions for accepting the deal.

Earlier, Chile’s most decorated club,   announced Vozinha’s signing and was scheduled to land in Santiago on Tuesday. However, issues related to his visa delayed his travel and questions have now started to mount over his arrival.

“We have been in contact with his agent as recently as a few minutes ago,” said Colo-Colo Director Jaime Pizarro.

The club team’s coach Fernando Ortiz stated that the goalkeeper was pleased with the deal and he will soon arrive after solving his personal issues.

“We spoke, and I could tell he was happy and pleased. Although he isn’t very expressive by nature, he is excited about the prospect of coming here -though he obviously has personal matters to take care of. The excitement surrounding a figure like him entering our league is understandable. Let’s hope he resolves his situation soon so we can count on him,” Ortiz said in a press conference.

Despite being active on social media, Vozinha has not yet publicly commented on the potential move to Chile. Coach Ortiz, however, remained unfazed: “Things are being done the right way,” he emphasised.
