Volkswagen is preparing to take the wraps off the next-generation T-Roc at the Munich Auto Show in September 2025. The model, one of Volkswagen’s most consistent performers in Europe and South America, is entering its second generation with significant updates.
The new T-Roc will likely be offered with multiple drivetrains, including hybrid and a fully electric variant. The hybrid version is expected to play a crucial role in South American markets, where demand for hybrid-electric vehicles is steadily growing.
Leaked images reveal a refreshed exterior featuring a bold front end with a large black grille, sharp LED headlights and a full-width light bar. At the rear, redesigned LED taillights highlight the SUV’s updated styling direction. Inside, the company is expected to integrate its latest digital interfaces and connected technology, aligning the T-Roc with other new-generation Volkswagen models.
On the technology front, the all-electric T-Roc will be built on Volkswagen’s upcoming Scalable Systems Platform (SSP). The platform is designed to deliver ultra-fast charging and is being developed to support Level 4 autonomous driving features in the future. This places the SUV among Volkswagen’s more forward-looking offerings as the company ramps up its electrification strategy.
The T-Roc’s debut comes at a time when Volkswagen is facing pressure in Europe, where competition remains fierce from rivals like the Renault Clio, Dacia Sandero and even the company’s own Golf. As for India, the new T-Roc is unlikely to return. Volkswagen had briefly sold the model here in 2021, but its current SUV portfolio is focused on the Taigun and Tiguan, with the larger Tayron expected to join soon. Given this strategy, the T-Roc does not appear to be part of Volkswagen’s India plans.
