Volkswagen Subcompact SUV Coming To Rival Nexon & Brezza – What to Expect?

Volkswagen India aims to foray into the sub-4 metre SUV segment by mid-2027. The upcoming Volkswagen subcompact SUV will essentially be a rebadged version of the Skoda Kylaq, and will be positioned against the models such as the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Soent, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO. It will be the smallest and most affordable Volkswagen offering in India. Prices of the VW compact SUV are expected to be more or less similar the Kylaq, which is currently priced between Rs 7.59 lakh – Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The overall design and styling of the new Volkswagen compact SUV will be completely different from the Skoda Kylaq. The model is expected to feature VW’s familiar front grille, revised bumpers, Taigun-inspired LED slim headlamps and LED DRLs, bold shoulder line with muscular fenders and connected LED taillamps. The interior is likely to be identical to the Kylaq; however, the VW subcompact SUV could be offered with new seat upholstery and trims. The feature list is expected to be largely similar to the Kylaq. This means we expect it to offer ventilated front seats, 6-way powered front seats, wireless phone charger, a 10.-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, USB Type C slots, In-car connectivity suite, keyless entry and go, auto dimming IRVM, a sunroof and more.

Safety Features

The standard safety is likely to include six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, remote central locking, rear parking sensors, Isofix anchors, three-point seat belts for all passengers, adjustable headrests for all passengers, ABS with EBD and remote central locking.

Turbo-Petrol Engine

Under the hood, the Volkswagen subcompact SUV is expected to feature a 1.0L, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with an 8-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. This setup delivers a maximum power of 115bhp.
