Vodafone Idea Q2 Results: Net Loss Narrows to Rs 5,524 Crore, Revenue Rises 2.4%

The company posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 5,524.2 crore for Q2 FY26, significantly improved from Rs 7,175.9 crore reported in the same quarter last year. For the quarter, Vodafone Idea reported revenue of Rs 11,190 crore, reflecting a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 2.4 percent.

Vodafone Idea Q2 FY26 EBITDA at Rs 4,690 Crore; Cash EBITDA Marginally Declines

This growth is attributed to improved customer monetization and tariff hikes implemented during the period. The reported Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) stood at Rs 4,690 crore.

However, the company’s cash EBITDA excluding the impact of Ind AS 116 accounting standards came in at Rs 2,250 crore, slightly lower than Rs 2,320 crore recorded in Q2 FY25. This metric provides a clearer picture of operational cash profitability, excluding lease accounting effects.

Vodafone Idea AGR Due Case Update

Vodafone Idea also addressed developments related to Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues. The company welcomed the recent judgments by the Hon’ble Supreme Court on October 27 and November 3, 2025, which permitted the Union of India to reconsider and reassess the additional AGR demands raised for the period up to the Financial Year 2016-2017.

Vodafone Idea said it is in discussions with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to determine the next steps on this matter, signaling a potentially positive resolution to this longstanding regulatory issue.

Vodafone Idea ARPU, Operational Performance

On the operational front, Vodafone Idea’s average revenue per user (ARPU) rose to Rs 180 in Q2 FY26 from Rs 166 in the corresponding period last year, marking an 8.7 percent YoY increase. The company attributed this growth primarily to customer upgrades and tariff increases.

The total subscriber base stood at 196.7 million users, with 127.8 million 4G/5G subscribers, up from 125.9 million a year ago. This growth underscores Vodafone Idea’s focus on expanding high-value 4G and 5G customer segments.

Vodafone Idea 5G Expansion

Vodafone Idea has been aggressively rolling out 5G services since its launch in March 2025. The company expanded its 5G network over six months to cover all 17 priority circles where it holds 5G spectrum licenses. These circles contribute approximately 99 percent of the company’s revenue.

Currently, Vi 5G services are available in 29 cities, with plans to extend coverage to additional locations as customer demand and 5G handset penetration increase. Vodafone Idea emphasized its commitment to strengthening its 5G footprint to capture growth opportunities in India’s fast-evolving telecom sector.
