Here during the winter season the mountains are covered with white sheets of snow from all sides. Rishi Parashar Temple

Rishi Parashar Temple is an ancient pagoda-style temple located on the banks of Parashar Lake in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Which is dedicated to Rishi Parashar. Along with the idol of Rishi Parashar, statues of Lord Vishnu, Shiva and Mahishamardini Devi are also present in the temple. This temple is built in pyramid shaped pagoda style. Temples built in pagoda style have 3 to four storeys whose rings are one above the other and are curved upwards. Sarnauhali fair is organized here in the month of June, in which a large number of local people from Mandi and Kullu districts participate.

The wooden carvings done on the temple attract people’s attention. This temple was built by Raja Bana Sen in the 13-14th century. It is said that the floor was built using a single cedar tree. It is a peaceful place surrounded by the huge Himalayan hills. The view of the banks of Parashar Lake along with the temple is very charming. The depth of this lake is not known nowadays, which makes it mysterious.

It is 430 kilometers away from Delhi. It is at a distance of 178 km from Chandigarh. You can plan to go here this New Year. Situated on the banks of Parashar Lake, this temple is a few kilometers away from Mandi city. Which is situated at an altitude of 2730 meters. Here one can see a beautiful view of Parashar Lake, dense forest and snow covered mountains of Dhauladhar. You can see snowfall here between December and February.

How to reach?

Parashar Lake is about 50 kilometers away from Mandi city. In such a situation, you can take HRTC bus from Mandi to Parashar Lake. Just keep in mind that while reaching here the roads become a bit steep and narrow. Therefore, it may normally take about 2 to 3 hours to reach here by bus. You can reach here by your car or taxi. There is no direct train to Mandi, so to reach here you can take a train till Chandigarh and then take a bus or taxi to Mandi. You can take a taxi from Bhuntar Airport of Kullu to Parashar.
