Vishwanath And Sons Will Be Tamil Cinema’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo: Producer Of Suriya Starrer Makes Big Claim

The audio launch of Vishwanath And Sons turned into a grand celebration for Suriya fans, with the film’s cast and makers talking about the film ahead of its theatrical release. Producer Naga Vamsi, director Venky Atluri and Suriya addressed the audience, sharing their views on what one can expect from the family entertainer. While Naga Vamsi compared the film’s potential to the blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Venky Atluri shared a different approach, promising an engaging experience for Suriya’s Anbanna fans. Their comments, have further increased anticipation ahead of its release on August 14.

Speaking at the event, producer  confidently declared that fans would get to witness shades of Sanjay Ramaswamy, the actor’s iconic character from Ghajini in the film. He also predicted that Vishwanath And Sons would become Tamil cinema’s equivalent of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, clarifying that the comparison came because both films were produced under the same banner.

For the unversed, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo marked a big box office comeback for after Naa Peru Surya, Naa Illu India (2018) underperformed. Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, the action-comedy family drama grossed an estimated Rs 260 crore to Rs 280 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of its time. It was well received in Tamil and Malayalam as well.

Director Venky Atluri avoided making grand promises. Instead, he assured audiences that they would enjoy at least 1 hour and 45 minutes of the film’s 2-hour and 30-minute runtime. His candid take got him applause while his Tamil speech also received appreciation from fans. Vishwanath And Sons stars Suriya as an affluent man whose much-younger employee, played by Mamitha Baiju, falls in love with him. The film is expected to explore emotional subjects surrounding intergenerational romance and family relationships.

The cast also includes Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon, who returns to Tamil cinema after nearly 25 years following Aalavandhan (2001). Nasser, Sudha, Raghu Babu, Sunil Reddy, Bhavani Sri, Viva Harsha, Kaali Venkat, George Maryan, Hyper Aadhi, Srija Ravi, Sarvadaman Banerjee, Mathew Varghese, Kalyani Natarajan, Karate Karthik and Master Charvik part of the film.

Produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, the film features music by GV Prakash Kumar. It is the music director’s reunion with Suriya, after the film Soorarai Pottru for which the composer won his first National award.
