Bhavani Sre, who shared screen space with popular actors including Suriya, Raveena Tandon and Nassar, described her experience of working on Venky Atluri‘s directorial as “quite fun”, as the entire cast came together as a unit. However, sharing screen space with Suriya was a different experience for the actress, as she admitted to feeling nervous and star-struck.

Talking about her first experience of working with Suriya in Vishwanath And Sons, Bhavani Sre said, “Having watched him while growing up, the first time I worked with him in a film, I was actually in awe. Although I am a few films old, when you meet a big star, you do get nervous and star-struck. That happened when I faced the camera with Suriya sir. Before giving my shot, I was thinking, ‘How am I going to do this?’ But he came and told me, ‘This is a good role, ma.’ After I did the monologue, he appreciated me and said, ‘You are embracing the character, and that’s very good.’ A comment like that from a star like him means a lot.”

Bhavani Sre’s first full-fledged role was in acclaimed director Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai. Talking about on her experience of working with such a celebrated filmmaker at the beginning of her career, she said that his approach to filmmaking was different. Vetrimaaran would not share the complete script with the actors, allowing them to approach each scene like a blank page.

Bhavani Sre recalls her debut film, Kaa Pe Ranasingam, as a fulfilling experience. Her initial doubts and inhibitions about the role were eased after her performance received glowing reviews, particularly for her performance. She said that getting appreciation for her work gave her the confidence to believe in herself as an actor. With at least four films this year, Bhavani Sree is open to experimenting with different characters and genres “I just try to take on any role I am approached for.”
