For nearly three years, Vishwambhara has been facing one hurdle after another when it comes to its theatrical release. After repeated delays, the team finally appeared confident about bringing the Chiranjeevi-starrer to theatres for Sankranti.
Naturally, the makers and fans were relieved that the long-delayed film had finally found a strong festive window.
But now, Kaaka has entered the picture.
The film began shooting only recently, and a major portion of the production is still reportedly pending. This has raised a simple question in industry circles: why is Kaaka in such a hurry to arrive for Sankranti?
Instead of rushing through the remaining shoot and post-production just to meet the festival deadline, some feel it would make more sense to allow Vishwambhara; a film that completed shooting much earlier and has been waiting for release; to take the Sankranti slot.
That, according to industry talk, would also be fair to the Vishwambhara team, which has already waited a long time for the right release date.
Interestingly, sources suggest that Chiranjeevi himself is also keen on releasing Vishwambhara during Sankranti.
This has now turned the festive release calendar into a fresh talking point, with both films associated with Chiranjeevi seemingly eyeing the same window.
Adding to the confusion, a photograph used in a recent update reportedly created friction. It is being said that a producer’s picture was used without informing the Vishwambhara team, allegedly giving the impression that they had agreed to step away from the Sankranti race.
Whether that was merely a communication gap or part of the ongoing release-date negotiations remains unclear.
For now, the big question is simple: will Kaaka continue to push for Sankranti, or will Vishwambhara finally get the festive release it has been waiting for?
