Prime Minister Narendra Modi will spearhead the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday morning.
The national-level event will be held at RK Beach from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., under this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” highlighting the intrinsic link between individual well-being and planetary health.
The Prime Minister will be joined by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Union Minister of State for Ayush and Health Prataprao Jadhav, among other dignitaries.
The Visakhapatnam event is part of the broader ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative, which will see mass yoga demonstrations at over 10 lakh locations across India. In Andhra Pradesh alone, the state government has mobilised an estimated 2 crore participants across more than 1 lakh venues, aiming to set a Guinness World Record for the largest synchronised yoga session. Over 50 lakh yoga certificates will be issued to registered participants.
A day ahead of the main event, around 25,000 tribal children performed 108 Surya Namaskars in 108 minutes at Andhra University in a symbolic prelude, showcasing the deepening cultural and grassroots reach of yoga in tribal communities.
Celebrations are also taking place across the country. In Delhi, yoga sessions are being held at 109 locations, including a major event at the Red Fort, organised by the Brahma Kumaris in partnership with the Ministry of Ayush, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, and the Archaeological Survey of India.
In Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is leading a parallel yoga session at the historic Mehrangarh Fort, merging wellness with heritage.
Ahead of the event, PM Modi penned a letter to all Gram Pradhans, underlining the transformative power of yoga and its rising global resonance.
With mass participation across age groups and geographies, International Yoga Day 2025 once again highlights India’s leadership in championing holistic health, harmony, and sustainable living through yoga.
