Virat Kohli’s nephew, Virender Sehwag’s elder son bag big deals in Delhi Premier League auction

New Delhi: Team India star Virat Kohli’s nephew Aaryaveer Kohli and former India opener Virender Sehwag’s elder son Aaryavir Sehwag bagged huge deals at the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 auction on Sunday, July 06. Aaryaveer Kohli, who is the son of Kohli’s brother Vikas Kohli, was bought by the newly inducted South Delhi Superstarz for a sum of Rs 1 lakh at the auction.

15-year-old Aaryaveer is a leg-spinner who can also bat. He currently trains under Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma at the West Delhi Cricket Academy. Aaryaveer was in the C category at the DPL 2025 auction, having been a registered player for the Delhi U-16 team. Though he has yet to make a name for himself in the Delhi cricketing circuit, Aaryaveer now has a great platform in DPL to showcase his talent.

Aaryaveer Kohli will join the likes of Ayush Badoni and Digvesh Rathi, among others, in the South Delhi Superstarz squad for DPL 2025. While Badoni was retained by the franchise, they broke the bank to re-sign star spinner Rathi for Rs 38 lakh at the auction. Rathi starred for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025 with 14 wickets in 13 matches last season.

Virender Sehwag’s son Aaryavir bags Rs 8 lakh deal

Meanwhile, former India batter Sehwag’s elder son Aaryavir, a talented batter who has played for the Delhi U19 team, was picked up by Central Delhi Kings for a big amount of Rs 8 lakh. There was a bidding war at the auction after Aryavir’s name was announced and Central Delhi Kings splurged Rs 8 lakh to secure his signing.

Aaryavir turned heads last year, when he smashed a brilliant knock of 297 runs for Delhi against Meghalaya in the Cooch Behar Trophy 2024/25. His 297-run knock came off 309 deliveries and was laced with 51 fours and three sixes. The 18-year-old missed out on a well-deserving triple century by a whisker in the game.
