Fans will not have to wait long to see Virat Kohli in action after the end of the ODI series between India and South Africa, as the legendary batter is set to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Delhi, which will kick off on December 24 and take place before India’s next assignment in ODI cricket against New Zealand.
Kohli will play in India’s premier List-A competition after 15 years. His last appearance in the tournament was in 2010 during a game against Services. In that fixture, he led the side and made 16 runs in eight balls. Current BCCI President Mithun Manas made a knock of 148 in that game.
Although Kohli played for Delhi earlier this year in a Ranji Trophy game against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This was his first appearance for his state side since 2012.

The Delhi team are based in Bengaluru and will play all their games in the city and at Alur. It is not yet clear where the games that are scheduled to take place in Bengaluru will take place, with uncertainty over whether the M Chinnaswamy Stadium can host the games. The matches could be shifted to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (COE) ground.

However, some reports have stated that Kohli will not play all the games and will only be available for 2-3 matches. Although there is no official confirmation on this yet, the DDCA has stated that Kohli has called them and informed them about his availability to play the competition.
The knockout stages are scheduled to take place from 12th to 18th January at the COE Ground in Bengaluru. Kohli will not be available for them if Delhi qualify, as it will clash with India’s ODI series against New Zealand.
India and New Zealand will play three ODI games on January 11, 14, and 18 in Baroda, Rajkot, and Indore. This will be the Men in Blue’s last assignment in 50-over cricket till June.
