Virat Kohli Drops Major ‘Australia ODIs’ Hint Amid Retirement Rumours

Virat Kohli’s latest Instagram activity caught the eye of cricket fans after rumours suggested that he could retire from ODI cricket soon, following his decision to quit both T20 and Test cricket over the last 12 months.

The 50-over format is the only one in which he and skipper Rohit Sharma are active cricketers.

For those unversed, a report by Dainak Jagran on Sunday (August 10) claimed that Rohit and Virat could retire from ODI cricket later this year, with the tour of Australia set to be their last assignment for the Men in Blue. The published information stated that post the tour Down Under, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will ask the star duo to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT), which could force the duo to bid adieu to the game.

Recently, Kohli liked a post on Instragram frm a fan account. ‘Virat Kohli prepping for the Aussie ODIs!,’ wrote the post alongside a picture of the ex-Indian captain with the Gujarat Titans assistant coach Naeem Amin.

Kohli had shared the photo last week on the photo-sharing application through a story while crediting Amin for helping him train during the off-season. ‘Thanks for helping out with the hit, brother. Always lovely to see you,’ wrote Kohli.

Recently, Kohli and Rohit have expressed their desire to play in the 2027 Cricket World Cup, which will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

India’s next ODI assignment is the tour of Australia, where they will play three matches starting from October 19. Later, the Men in Blue will host South Africa at home in December.
