Virat Kohli etched his name in the history books by producing a vintage knock of 135 runs in 120 balls in the first ODI against South Africa at the Jharkhand Cricket Association (JCA) in Ranchi on Sunday (November 30) to help India take a 1-0 lead in the series with a 17-run.
The 37-year-old smashed multiple records with a 52nd ODI century, making him the player with the most centuries in a single format of the game. Previously, the record was held by Sachin Tendulkar, who had 51 centuries in Test cricket and he is also third in the list with 49 ODI tons.

Through the course of the innings, Kohli completed 500 runs in Ranchi. Infact, the star Indian batter has played just six games at the venue in which he has 519 runs at a stunning average of 173 with three centuries as well as one half-century to his name.
Ranchi is the sixth stadium in which Kohli has managed to hit over 500 runs in his career, making him the first player to do so in history, going past a record previously shared with Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara, and Dean Jones. The former Indian captain has also achieved the feat at Visakhapatnam, Pune, Mirpur, Colombo (Premedasa), and Trinidad.

Kohli is also the first player around the world to score over 500 runs at three different stadiums in India. Apart from the two Indian cricket masters, no player from either the Indian team or any visiting team has managed to score 500 runs on any ground in Indian soil.
