In a remarkable example of innovation emerging from rural India, a government school girl from Bhilawali village in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, has gained widespread attention for building a flying model of a fighter jet using scrap materials. The student created a lightweight remote-controlled model inspired by the F-22 Raptor aircraft with the help of basic electronic components and thermocol waste. Guided by her teacher, the young innovator also practised flying simulations on a computer before successfully testing the model aircraft in an open field. The aircraft is said to have a flying range of roughly one to one-and-a-half kilometres, reflecting the student’s ability to translate theoretical knowledge into a working technological prototype.
