A Karnataka headmaster spent his savings to give 24 bright students their first air trip. The objective of this trip was to increase the self-confidence of these children selected on the basis of examination and to show them the world beyond books.
ThatA headmaster spends his entire savings to show that there is a surprising world beyond the tables. Birappa Antagi, headmaster of Bahadurbandi Government Higher Primary School in Koppal district of Karnataka, made 24 selected students of his school fulfill their dream of traveling by air for the first time. He arranged this educational trip by spending about Rs 5 lakh from his personal savings.
Pass the exam, then travel by air.
He did not choose these children just like that. They conducted a special merit examination for the children of class 5th to 8th. In this, 24 best performing students were selected for the trip. His thinking was that this would give a boost to smart children in studies. Those 24 children traveled by air for the first time from Jindal Airport in Toranagallu. They flew to Bengaluru from Jindal Airport. Every moment inside the plane was no less than a surprise for the children. There were a total of 40 people in this group, including 24 students selected from the merit examination. Teachers, Mid-Day Meal Scheme staff and School Development Committee (SDMC) members also joined the children in the visit.
Teacher is being praised
It is difficult for children growing up in rural areas with limited resources to even think about air travel. Birappa Antagi later said that he took this step to boost the self-confidence of the children and broaden their horizons about the world. MP Rajshekhar Hitnal flagged off the yatra at the airport. Praising this work, he said that it is a great example of how a teacher’s dedication can impact the lives of children. This noble work of this teacher, who spends his money for the dreams of the students, is now being discussed a lot on social media. Some people wrote that it is proof of how an ordinary government school teacher can make a big difference in the lives of his students.
