Lucknow. In a major operation, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Jammu and Kashmir Police and Lucknow Police conducted simultaneous raids at several places in the capital on Monday night. These raids were reportedly conducted in connection with the investigation related to suspected terrorist activities and the ongoing network between the states. According to official sources, joint teams searched several areas including Khurram Nagar, Indira Nagar and Mahanagar. The operation began late Monday evening and continued till Tuesday morning amid tight security.
Many people have been detained for questioning and digital devices as well as important documents have also been seized from some places. Police sources said that this action was taken after intelligence input received from Jammu and Kashmir Police, in which some suspicious conversations were detected from Lucknow. These inputs suggest that some local people may have links with some operatives under the scanner of security agencies in Kashmir and other parts of North India.
Uttar Pradesh ATS, which has been actively monitoring radical networks and online communication channels, teamed up with the counter-intelligence wing of J&K Police to identify potential suspects. Syed Arib Ahmed, ACP Aliganj, confirmed the raid at a specific location, but declined to give further details citing the sensitivity of the investigation. However, ACP Ahmed said, “No one has been arrested yet. This house belongs to Dr Parvez Ansari.”
After this operation, security has been increased in many parts of Lucknow. The agencies are also investigating whether the detained people have any direct links with terrorist organizations or sleeper cells operating in northern India. Further investigation is ongoing. On Monday evening, a loud explosion occurred in a slow-moving Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort in central Delhi. The incident occurred at Subhash Marg traffic signal at around 7 pm. Delhi Police has registered a case under sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Explosives Act and relevant provisions of the Indian Justice Code at Kotwali police station. Many agencies have joined the investigation to find out the cause and motive of the blast.
