Vinod Kambli health update: Ex-India cricketer faces brain stroke risk as friends unite for aid

New Delhi: Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli is in grave danger of suffering a brain stroke in a latest worrying health update, which has left his fans worried about his condition. According to a report in The Hindustan Times Digital, Kambli is at risk of a brain stroke despite no decline in his health in the last six months, and a group including his friends and former teammates like Sachin Tendulkar have set up a WhatsApp group to keep a track of his health and for financial aid.

The worrying news comes a year after Kambli’s recovery from a severe urinary infection that required treatment at a private hospital in Thane, and 18 months after a video sparked major concerns over his health. Making a public appearance after a long time at the unveiling of the Ramakant Achrekar memorial in Mumbai, Kambli looked dazed and confused while walking on the stage and even had to clutch Tendulkar’s hands for support.

After witnessing his poor health conditions, several iconic cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil offered financial aid in support of the former left-handed batter. And while that kind gesture has helped Kambli a lot, he is not fully out of the woods yet.

Vinod Kambli’s brain clot: Serious health warning for ex-India cricketer

Kambli’s old friend Marcus Couto revealed that while Kambli’s health hasn’t detiroaited in the last six months, he remains in bad shape. Marcus revealed that Kambli has a clot in the brain which can’t be removed, and the doctor has warned that he could have a brain stroke.

“I have formed a WhatsApp group including his friends – mostly cricketers – and without taking names, they contribute a lot financially. His memory isn’s good, but over the last six months, it hasn’t declined either. He can’t remember much, but when something clicks, he does. Otherwise, it gets difficult for him. Vinod has a clot in his brain, which cannot be removed because he did not take precautions early. And the doctor has suggested that he could have a brain stroke. Because of his willpower, he is conjuring whatever he can,” Marcus told The Hindustan Times Digital.

Memory loss and daily life: Kambli’s ongoing health challenges

Marcus also opened up on Kambli’s daily routine and stated that he likes to spend most of his time with family in Thane. Spending time with his wife, Andrea, and two kids, and regular health checkups are part of his daily life. Such is the extent of his memory loss that the former Mumbai star can’t even follow cricket, his first love, and sometimes forgets to take medication.

But all is not doom and gloom for Kambli, who was once touted as a bigger talent than Tendulkar. Marcus revealed that Kambli is set to appear in an advertisement for an ice cream brand later this year.

While the condition of his brain remains critical, his ability to walk has improved significantly.
