“Twelve years ago, I lost someone I was not ready to lose… that the world was not ready to lose. You were there… not with words, but with purpose. You allowed for me to play Kaulder. When mortality had its grip on my life, you brought immortality. The Last Witch Hunter wasn’t just a film, It was my resurrection. Your wife lovely Shakira embraced mine, your family became my family. This summer, three years after retiring, you came back. The words you spoke in character transcended film… like a gift of wisdom,” he added.
The ‘Fast & Furious’ actor got emotional as he revealed when Caine introduced him as his “son” in the presence of Hollywood icons like Christopher Nolan, Sidney Poitier, and others. “We’re just two kids from nothing, dreamers who became something. You said I speak to the world, but Michael… you speak to eternity. I love you. Forever,” he concluded.
Honour at Red Sea Film Festival
At the fifth edition of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Festival, Vin Diesel wheeled the British actor onto the red carpet, where they warmly posed for pictures. Taking to the stage, Diesel also presented Caine with his honouree prize.
“Tonight is more special for me personally because I’ve been asked to recognise someone who you all know as one of the best actors who’s ever lived. He’s been somebody that, as Uma Thurman said, could play character roles or main roles, and all the while has more charisma in his finger than most people in Hollywood,” he said, as quoted by Variety.
