There is a death of 39 during a stampede at actor Vijay’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu.
Vijay’s karur rally stampede:More than three dozen people died due to a stampede at a rally of actor, politician Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu. Hundreds are injured and are in hospitals. The number of dead people can still increase. And as usual, the only argument of police officers is that they are investigating. Till the investigation is completed, it is difficult to say anything. It is possible that there should be a magisterial inquiry of this accident, the police will constitute SIT, order the government to order a judicial inquiry, but it will be difficult to decide the responsibility of the guilty or the culprits. This is not a satire, this is a bitter truth of stampede in the country.
Let us know, why can’t the responsibility be decided in such accidents? Why does no one get punished? How do we start forgetting the old incident and waiting for the new, even the government system by entangling in the maze of investigation? Where is the lack?
Frequent stampede system weakness
Incidents of repeated stampede in India highlight our administration, arrangements and serious flaws of political systems. Whether it is religious places, political rallies or a famous venue, every time a crowd of hundreds of thousands of thousands of people throng and the lack of security arrangements or negligence takes life to life.
The painful death of several dozen people in the rally of actor-turned-actor in the new incident has once again raised the same questions-
- Who is responsible after all?
- Why is not a lesson taken despite repeated incidents?
- Why doesn’t the crowd management look improvement?
- Why do people sitting in big positions escape in the investigation and the real fault is only ended by putting the below employees or unknown reasons?

Stampede at Vijay’s rally
How big a system failure?
1- Lack of congestion
The crowds coming for events or rallies are not properly assessed. Many times more crowd gathered and the local administration raises hands. Intelligence agencies, police-administration’s own system often fails in this issue.
2- Lack of basic security facilities
Entry and exit gates are not enough. Because there is no accurate assessment of the crowd. In such a situation, arrangements are also not made accurate. Emergency exits are either not at all or blocked.Blessings that control the crowd are extremely weak or not.
3- Shadow of politics and religion
When the event is of big leaders, religious leaders or VIP celebrities, the administration often avoids unnecessary strictness, so that the organizers and leaders are not angry.
4- Lack of investigation and accountability
After almost every major stampede, there are different orders of investigation, but the result is often accepted by stating the result. Due to excessive crowds and rumors, the primary story has been made in the rally of stampede, Vijay. The responsibility of responsibility is blamed on any lower level officer or police personnel by telling human error. People and organizers sitting in big positions often escape.

How much improvement is needed to stop stampede?
- Crowd Management Plan required.Minimum standards should be set for every big event.
- Capacity of crowds should be decided in advance in rallies, religious events, fairs.
- CCTV surveillance, drone, crowd-sensitive sensors should be installed.
- Measures like measuring the density of the crowd immediately and changing the direction.
- If an accident happens, then not only small employees-Chief organizer, local administrative head and police captain should also be made legally accountable.
- The investigation of the incident should not be limited to the duty magistrate alone. At the national level, independent commission should be made which makes the responsible names public.
- No matter how big leaders or gurus, security rules should not be relaxed.
- Entry, exit, barricade and emergency routes should be made mandatory.
Many dozen deaths in Vijay’s rally are not an unfortunate coincidence but part of the same failed system in which hundreds of people lose their lives every year. The question is not of such accidents, but of the accountability which is missing from our system. Until the political and administrative officials sitting in high positions are not legally held, these accidents will continue to be suppressed in compensation and formal investigation. Crowd control should be made primary security agenda and the culprits get punishment according to the post, only then thousands of lives can be paid true tribute.
Habit of avoiding responsibility
Every time the report says-the strike suddenly increased, rumors spread, people got nervous but this is not a human error but administrative failure. Many questions arise on such accidents.
- Who was responsible for the conjecture of the crowd?
- Why did not the necessary security arrangements happen?
- Why were the clearance routes not enough?
- Why could not any concrete method of mob management have been made so far?
Instead of fixing the responsibility, the government system takes compensation and accepts the matter. This is the reason that the victims are deprived of justice.
